boyfriend dressing

One trend I love but struggle with a bit is dressing like a boy(friend).
At first, I was puzzled by the baggy jeans, baggy shirt look being worn by
all the hottest (tiniest) women in fashion. Why would they want to hide
their amazing figures? I thought to myself. Then I tried on this pair of
J Brands a couple years ago and realized exactly why... What's not to
love about soft, baggy, super comfy jeans? They work any way, with sneakers
or heels, an old t-shirt or silk blouse. Wear em, love em... you can even
dance in em, if you want to.

an apple a day...

I think summer is tough to dress for... How in the world are you supposed to look cute
when it's 90 degrees and sunny with 100% humidity? In my opinion, we don't really have
a choice but to wear shorts and a t-shirt or tank top almost every day with those sun dresses
filtered in. Frankly, no matter what you wear you'll still be sweating. BUT, the key to turning
your light summer outfit into a stylish one is all in the choice of accessories.

Step 1: Funk it up with some rad shoes.
Your feet are rarely the first thing people look at so don't be afraid to do something a little crazy!
Step 2: A wide brimmed hat.

It keeps the sun out of your eyes and instantly adds some style points.
Step 3: A great bag.
Have some fun here. Add in some cool hardware, texture and color. Whichever fits your style.
Step 4: Jewelry...
Stack on those rings and bracelets for an instant refresher to your outfit.
Step 5: Have fun with it!
Wear things because you love them and don't care what other people think!

blue jean baby.

Recently, I shot with the uber talented Madison photographer, Sarah Smiley
again. It's been a few years since we've worked together and it's been great
catching up! Here is the first peek featuring my little man, @obi_thefrenchiepup

As you may have noticed, color rarely enters my wardrobe. Blue jeans
are a major exception. I'd be lost without my blue jeans, baby. You can
wear them anywhere anyway and always be in style. Dark, light, distressed,
high waisted, cropped? I'm into it. Denim on denim on denim, pile it on.
I'm not sure that denim really counts as a color, but can we just say it does?

photo diary: bright lights, big city.

New york is like a loud, smelly dream. Streets lined with food vendors, a store for
every designer you could imagine and trash. Lots and lots of trash. It smells bad but
looks great. The people watching doesn't get much better anywhere and
the shopping (for food and fashion) can't be beat. These are just a few
photos from a short, lively four days in NYC.

Hello, I love you.

NYC fisheye photo diary.

New York City treated us very well. We ate, we walked, we shopped, we sweat and
did I mention that we ate? Macarons, meatballs, Momofuku and much more, our
stomachs did not suffer... But our feet did.

Tracking about 15 miles a day from Brooklyn to China Town, Soho to the Upper
West Side, we definitely put the miles on. While in Opening Ceremony in Soho,
I bought this awesome Photojojo fisheye lens that proved to be quite the fun toy
(as shown in these photos). Although I didn't buy too much more than that,  I did
do a bit of drooling in J. Mendel and a lot of dreaming in Proenza Schouler.

It was a fun, quick, hot, hurricane filled visit, NYC. See you soon.
