blue jean baby.

Recently, I shot with the uber talented Madison photographer, Sarah Smiley
again. It's been a few years since we've worked together and it's been great
catching up! Here is the first peek featuring my little man, @obi_thefrenchiepup

As you may have noticed, color rarely enters my wardrobe. Blue jeans
are a major exception. I'd be lost without my blue jeans, baby. You can
wear them anywhere anyway and always be in style. Dark, light, distressed,
high waisted, cropped? I'm into it. Denim on denim on denim, pile it on.
I'm not sure that denim really counts as a color, but can we just say it does?

photo diary: bright lights, big city.

New york is like a loud, smelly dream. Streets lined with food vendors, a store for
every designer you could imagine and trash. Lots and lots of trash. It smells bad but
looks great. The people watching doesn't get much better anywhere and
the shopping (for food and fashion) can't be beat. These are just a few
photos from a short, lively four days in NYC.

Hello, I love you.

NYC fisheye photo diary.

New York City treated us very well. We ate, we walked, we shopped, we sweat and
did I mention that we ate? Macarons, meatballs, Momofuku and much more, our
stomachs did not suffer... But our feet did.

Tracking about 15 miles a day from Brooklyn to China Town, Soho to the Upper
West Side, we definitely put the miles on. While in Opening Ceremony in Soho,
I bought this awesome Photojojo fisheye lens that proved to be quite the fun toy
(as shown in these photos). Although I didn't buy too much more than that,  I did
do a bit of drooling in J. Mendel and a lot of dreaming in Proenza Schouler.

It was a fun, quick, hot, hurricane filled visit, NYC. See you soon.

throwback to new york city.

In honor of taking a little trip to NYC this week, I thought a TBT to New York last
summer was quite appropriate. Last year in May, I moved to the city for a summer
internship with Harpers BazaarI would have been crazy to pass up that opportunity,
but I never really thought I'd like living in New York. Boy was I wrong! I've never been
in a more inspiring, lively, exciting, sweaty city. I feel like every person I met did something
cooler than the last and every weekend got more fun. Three months went by much too
quickly and I wasn't so thrilled to leave New York when summer was over.

I've been trying to get back since last August, but I guess life just gets busy. So, when Oren
(he usually takes these photos) was hired for a two day shoot in New York and invited me
along, it was the perfect excuse! So Monday I'm headed back to New York for a few days!
Can't wait to get back to the city to eat, shop, see my favorite New Yorkers and sweat
profusely for four days. See you Monday, New york. I've missed you.

so nautical!

There's really nothing better than being barefoot and on the water on those gorgeous
summer days. I love the nautical trend, it's one that just seems to come back year after
year. So this summer... keep the nautical trend, trending! Throw on some stripes,
kick off your shoes and enjoy the water!

who wears short shorts.

One of my favorite things to wear in the summer is long sleeves and shorts.
It keeps you warm enough on the days it's not a scorture. But, still gives
you the chance to show of those bronzed legs that you work so hard on all winter
just so you can slip into your favorite pair of shorts in the warmer months.

One of my fashion weaknesses is leaving out pretty much any color or
pattern in almost everything I own. Summer is a great time to take those
baby steps into a more exciting uniform. These shorts were the perfect
step to funk things up a little. It's important to keep your wardrobe new
and exciting but no need to jump right in, all at once!

A few fun pieces matched with your go to basics makes a great mix of an outfit.
Don't get me wrong, I hope one day I'll have balls like, Joanna Hillman
to pull out a full fledged fix of prints. We'll have to work on that one....

transitional dressing.

When you wake up in the middle of June and it's barely 60 degrees,
it's kind of tough to decide what to wear. An easy transition outfit
is always the way to go. It keeps you warm enough in the morning and
let's you cool down enough in the afternoon. Open toed shoes, ripped jeans,
a good t shirt, light jacket, a hat and a killer backpack sounded perfect to me.
This is my favorite lightweight jacket. It works with everything
and is nice and comfy. Pair it with a t shirt and you're good to go for
those cooler summer days.
